The Hamburg University of Applied Sciences

The Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, HAW) is one of the initiators of the Omega-3 network. Three experts from the HAW's ecotrophology department are ready to bring their knowledge to the table. Prof. Dr. med. vet. Katharina Riehn is a veterinary specialist for food safety and meat hygiene and also works as a professor for nutritional microbiology. She specialises in analytics and is the spokesperson of the Omega-3 network. Prof. Dr. jur. Martin Holle is a professor for foodstuff laws and general administrative law. His expertise concerning the authorisation of new foodstuffs as well as nutritional and health claims are particularly valuable for the network. Prof. Dr. Andrea Bauer is the ecotrophology department's expert for sensor technology and product development. An extensively equipped technology centre facilitates a wide range of sensory investigations. In addition, the HAW has a tried-and-tested consumer panel for market tests at the ready.
